Maxegan – Red, White, Blue and Now Green: Our Sustainability Journey

It is clear as a society we are on a journey towards striving for sustainability within our future! Rightly so, we say! As such Maxegan are moving from just red, white and blue but adding green to our mix!

However, this poses a major question:

‘What can we do to help?’

At Maxegan, we have taken a number of actions to assist in a more sustainable future. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of this revolution! As a result, we wanted to take you through some of the changes we’ve made, our plans, and why we care so much about this cause!

WHAT WE’RE DOING TO SUPPORT SUSTAINABILITY:

One way we’ve reduced our impact on our environment is by implementing programmes that allow us to digitise as much of our work as possible. As mentioned in our previous comms, our Financial Controller, Louise Kemp, has been instrumental in spearheading our paperless movement. No longer having timesheets, role approvals and holiday requests floating around, results in not only a cleaner office but planet also!

Working exclusively with a paperless process has allowed us to increase efficiency, ensure security. We’ve made huge headway on a variety of issues within the IT Recruitment Industry. There are no giant binders, messy drawers full of contracts, or closets stuffed with outdated software systems.

GOING PAPERLESS: WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN FOR SUSTAINABILITY:

Going paperless helps cut down on a lot of unnecessary waste, which in turn reduces our carbon footprint. A recent study has demonstrated just how large an impact the reduced use of paper created. The study concluded, ‘turning a single tree into 17 reams of paper, results in around 110lbs of C02 being released.’ It referred to trees as ‘carbon sinks’1 and alludes to their ability to absorb and utilise C02 gasses. As such we at Maxegan felt reducing the overall amounts of carbon dioxide found in the earth’s atmosphere was key.

SUSTAINABILITY: NEXT STEPS FOR MAXEGAN’S GREENER FUTURE:

It has been a great step forward within the office to go fully paperless. However, the Maxegan Team want to do more to ensure the sustainability of the world around them! Therefore, within 2022, Managing Director- Richard Langshaw, along with Louise will be working towards a number of exciting changes!

Rich said, “We are a team based in and around Billericay (Essex). We all tend to drive to work as there isn’t any form of direct public transport from where the team live, into the office. As a result, we are looking into ways that we can provide the team with a cleaner alternative when driving to and from work! I want everyone within Maxegan to feel good about the contribution they are making to support the environment! I want to give them a means in which to do it!”

THE SMALL THINGS WE CAN ALL DO TO HELP SUSTAINABILITY:

We believe deep down, all of us want to make a positive impact on our planet, but sometimes we’re not sure how to go about it. Whilst one paperless office and a few more electric cars won’t rectify the world’s environmental issues overnight, it is undoubtedly a very big step in the right direction. We can’t wait to implement further plans throughout 2022 and beyond and will be sure to bring you along for our environmentally friendly journey!
